THE PROBLEM

Anger, despair, frustration, guilt — they’re all part of a disease called "chemical dependency." It’s a disease that threatens not only its victims but everyone around them. While few diseases are more life threatening than chemical dependency, those in trouble often refuse to seek help. In fact, they refuse to believe they need help. Their denial produces a ripple effect in spouses, children, parents, friends, co-workers, and employers, who all suffer as well. The disease and its consequence are devastating, but there is hope and help through the programs at Spencer Recovery Centers in Laguna Beach, California, and St. Petersburg, Florida.

THE PROGRAM

The drug rehab at Spencer Recovery Center is for adults 18 and over. It is designed to promote recovery for both the chemically dependent patient and the family. Patients are given the tools they need to develop a new self-image, initiate and enjoy positive life changes, and stay sober. Families are an integral part of the treatment process. Both patients and families learn appropriate, healthy ways of coping with life and changing behavior patterns.

THE TREATMENT

Just as people are different, their treatment requirements are different. For that reason, Spencer Recovery Centers offer several treatment options, depending upon the patient’s physical and psychological needs.

Inpatient Program: The three phases of this program consist of medical detoxification, primary rehabilitation, and family days. A specially trained team provides an environment conducive to recovery for both the individual and the family. Length of stay for this program varies, based upon individual need.

Primary Care: This 21 or 28 day inpatient program encourages patients to recover physically, emotionally, and spiritually. In addition to individual, group, and family therapy, our approach includes exercise, meditation, and good nutrition.

Sober Living: Sober living facilities are available to support patients who have completed Primary Care programs. SRC's Sober Living environment provides guidance on the re-entry into society after participating in a primary care program.

Continuing Care: Clients are welcome to attend weekend family group sessions for up to 1 year following successful completement of treatment at the facility. This component of treatment is carefully designed to include individual and family involvement in maintenance of a chemical free lifestyle.

Relapse Prevention: This is a program structured to support long term sobriety. Lectures, videos, and self study assignments are used to explore and manage relapse warning signs. Through sharing experiences and exercises, participants learn the skills needed to maintain their sobriety.
